Pelican Skiers Race at NEPSAC Championships
The Loomis Chaffee boys alpine ski team secured second place overall in the New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC) Class B Championships on Wednesday, February 12, at Mittersill Mountain in Franconia, New Hampshire. It was the team’s first podium finish in nine years.
Racing against competitive fields, both the boys and girls squads delivered strong performances, contributing to a successful outing for Loomis skiing.
Placing well in both Slalom and Giant Slalom for a combined score of 80 points, the Loomis boys outskied 13 other teams to earn the runner-up spot. Kent’s Hill, with 61 points, won the championship.
Sophomore Andrew Purviance led the Pelican boys, placing third in Slalom and ninth in Giant Slalom. On the girls side, the team was led by sophomore Katherine Geoghan, who finished 19th in Slalom and 23rd in Giant Slalom. The girls team placed 11th overall out of 14 schools.
