Pelicans Dominate in Opening Meet

The Loomis Chaffee boys track and field team won its first meet of the season against Avon Old Farms by a score of 117 to 28 on Wednesday, April 19, on the Wilde Track on the Island.

The meet started on Saturday, April 15, but had to be suspended because of thunder and lightning, and it was completed on Wednesday.

In all, the Pelicans won 12 of the 15 individual events. Winners from Loomis included senior Cole Alleyne in the long jump, senior Nathan Amani-Luiru in the 400 meters, junior Orion Browne in the triple jump, junior Sebastian Cohen in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, senior Neil Grover in the pole vault, senior Sam Kurian in the 800 meters and 1500 meters, freshman Chidi Moemeka in the 110-meter high hurdles, junior Anthony Ndika in the discus, senior Jaden Small in the high jump, junior Julian Sutton in the shot put, and senior Ethan Wood in the 3000 meters.

The team also took home first place in the 4x100-meter relay and the 4x400-meter relay.

In the end, the Pelicans swept the high hurdles, 400 meters, shot put, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, and 3000 meters.
