Ryckman Tabbed as Water Polo All-American

Junior Jackie Ryckman has been named to the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association’s 2022 All-America Water Polo fifth team based on her performance last spring as a sophomore.

Out of the 102 athletes selected for the seven teams, Jackie was one of just 11 sophomores.

Jackie’s sophomore year was her first on the Island, and she led the Pelicans to a 12-3 record and a third-place finish in the New England Prep School Athletic Conference girls water polo tournament in the spring. She was named to the NEPSAC All-League team and finished the season with 57 goals, a 60 percent shooting average, 20 assists, 61 steals, and 37 drawn power plays.

“Perhaps more important than any of her stats or accolades is Jackie’s desire to mentor her teammates,” said Loomis Chaffee head coach Ed Pond. “Her passion for the game is contagious, and simply by showing up she makes us a more competitive, more dedicated, and more joyful squad.”
