2021 Fall Playoff Preview

As the fall term comes to an end, three Loomis Chaffee varsity teams are competing in New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC) postseason play on Saturday, November 20.

The varsity football team will compete in the program’s first-ever bowl game when the Pelicans take on Milton Academy in the NEPSAC Class A Todd Marble Bowl on Pratt Field at 2:30 p.m. The Pelicans are 8-1 on the year, the most wins in a season in program history. Milton, which competes in the Independent Sports League, is 7-0 on the year. The game will be livestreamed with play-by-play commentary. You can watch the game live on the Loomis Chaffee athletics livestream page.

The boys varsity soccer team, ranked No. 4 in the NEPSAC Boys Soccer Class A Tournament, travels to No. 1 seeded Taft for a 1:30 p.m. semifinal matchup. The Rhinos and Pelicans, Founders League foes, have already faced off once this year, with the Pelicans falling 3-1 on the road. Taft is undefeated on the year with a record of 18 wins and 0 losses while the Pelicans come into the game with a record of 12 wins, three losses, and three ties. You can watch the game live on the Taft School athletics livestream page.

To reach the semifinal game, the Pelicans defeated No. 5 Milton Academy 3-1 in the quarterfinals on Wednesday on Helfrich Field. A win against Taft would mean the boys soccer team would take on the winner of the Worcester Academy vs. Northfield Mount Hermon semifinal. The championship game will take place on Helfrich Field at 11 a.m. on Sunday, November 21. Loomis is hosting the championship games for all four boys soccer NEPSAC divisions in the Meadows on that day.

The girls volleyball team, ranked No. 1 in the NEPSAC Volleyball Class A Tournament, will host No. 4 Phillips Exeter Academy in the Olcott Center at 5 p.m. in semifinal action. Exeter has 13 wins and two losses on the year while the Pelicans come into the game with 18 wins and one loss. These two teams faced off against one another earlier in the year, with the Pelicans coming away with a 3-0 win on their home court. You can watch the game live on the Loomis Chaffee athletics livestream page.

Loomis advanced to the semifinals by defeating eighth-seeded Choate 3-0 on Wednesday in Olcott. If the Pelicans win, they will play in the championship game in Olcott on Sunday, November 21, against the winner of the semifinal between Hopkins School and Deerfield. The time of the game has yet to be determined.
