Ally Hammel ’15 Competes in Pan American Cups with USA Field Hockey

The U.S. Field Hockey women’s national team is playing in the Pan American Cups in Santiago, Chile, and defender Ally Hammel ’15 helped the back line secure a shutout in the team’s first-round matchup.

The Pan American Cup is an international indoor field hockey competition for men and women organized by the Pan American Hockey Federation. The event is a direct qualifier for the FIH (International Hockey Federation) Hockey World Cup.

Hammel captained the Loomis Chaffee girls field hockey team, lettered in track and field, and was named a 2014 Third Team All-American and a 2014 Western New England All-Star in field hockey. After Loomis, she played for Boston University and was named a First Team All-American and Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year in her junior and senior years.

Hammel looks to help the United States win its first-ever Pan American Cup. Argentina’s national team has won the event all five times since the tournament’s inception in 2001.
