When Bree Bergeron ’20 graduated from Loomis Chaffee last spring, she planned to attend Middlebury College and play Division III ice hockey there, but with a change of heart about her college choice, Bree thought she might have to hang up her skates.
She decided to look at other schools in order to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse, and she was accepted into the nursing program at Merrimack College, a Division I school.
Hesitant to try out for the women’s ice hockey team at Merrimack, Bree was encouraged by former teammates and coaches to go for it. A week later, Bree earned a spot on the Merrimack roster.
At Loomis, Bree captained the ice hockey team as a senior, and the team won three Founders League titles and appeared in four New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC) Tournament semifinals. Bree was selected as a First Team All-NEPSAC defenseman her senior year and a Second Team All-NEPSAC Defenseman her junior year.
