Girls Track Breaks Two School Records

The Loomis Chaffee girls track and field team set new school records in the distance medley relay and the 4x200-meter relay on Saturday, April 23, at the 62nd annual Hunt Relays at Deerfield Academy.

These particular relays are run only once a year, offering a single annual opportunity to break the records.

Each runner on a distance medley relay team runs a different distance, starting with the 1200 meters, followed by the 400 meters, 800 meters, and 1600 meters. The Loomis team of junior Maeve Dowd, sophomore Logan Elie, sophomore Sophia Rincón, and senior captain Brooke Barry (pictured below with distance coach Becky Purdy) set the record on Saturday with a time of 13:22.20. The previous record, 13:28.37, was set in 2012 by Michaela Colangelo ’14, Meadeshia Mitchell ’12, Brie Malanga ’12, and Lindsay Gabow ’12.

The 4x200 relay team also shattered the previous record. Senior captain Willa Hock, junior Izzy Balise, sophomore Olivia Beauvois, and sophomore Sam Mancini (pictured below with head coach Lilian Hutchinson) ran a time of 1:45.9 on Saturday, eclipsing the previous mark of 1:48.6, which was set in 2016. The previous record-holders were Skyler Dovi ’17, Tiara Lewis Fallon ’19, Natasha Otton ’16, and Amani Hite ’16.
