The girls track and field program moved to 8-0 on the season with victories against Choate, Hopkins School, and Sacred Heart Greenwich on Wednesday, May 4, at Choate.
The Pelicans scored 123 points to Sacred Heart’s 54 points, Choate’s 33, and Hopkins’s 26.
The team experimented with some individuals in new events and different relay combinations, but even with the changes there were 17 personal records on the day.
Loomis Chaffee won the 4x100-meter relay, 1500 meters, pole vault, long jump, 800 meters, 300-meter intermediate hurdles, high jump, 200 meters, 3000 meters, and the 4x400-meter relay for a total of 50 points. While an impressive list of wins, equally notable was the fact that 73 points came from 27 teammates placing second through fifth.
Senior captain Willa Hock led the team in scoring with 11.25 points. The team also gave a special shoutout to sophomore managers Chichi Oreh, Tahmir Murphy, and Yazmeen Abdel-Hamid for their tremendous work helping at the finish line.
The regular season comes to a close on Saturday, May 7, when the Pelicans host Northfield Mount Hermon and Phillips Andover Academy for a “Twilight Meet” beginning at 4:30 p.m. on the Wilde Track.
