Maddie Hong ’19, a current sophomore on the women’s golf team at Hamilton College, was named to the New England Small College Athletics Conference all-conference second team last weekend.
Hong, who was a day student at Loomis and a member of the girls varsity ice hockey and golf teams on the Island, helped the Hamilton College girls golf team finish third in the NESCAC, the best finish in school history. Hong also helped the team reach their first evert Women’s Golf Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll, coming in at No. 20. They were also ranked third in the NCAA East Region.
Hong was named to the team after her performance in the only two NESCAC events this year. The all-conference teams were picked based off of the 36-hole combined scores at the events, with the first team comprising of the top five golfers and ties with the lowest 36-hole totals, and the next five lowest 36-hole scores, including ties, made up the second team.
Hong’s score of 166 after two rounds was more than enough to qualify her for the second team. You can read the complete story on the Hamilton College athletics website.
Maddie is also a member of the women’s ice hockey team at Hamilton College, and was a member of the 2018 and 2019 New England Championship girls golf team at Loomis. She also won three Founders League titles with the girls ice hockey team.
