Maddie Hong ’19 was the individual medalist for the first time in her collegiate golf career this weekend at the Cortaca Northeast Invitational.
Her first-place finish also helped the Hamilton College women’s golf team win the team title.
Hong posted an 80 in her first round on Saturday, September 25, at the Ranic Golf Club in Ithaca, N.Y., and then posted a career-best 75 on Sunday at the Cortland Country Club in Cortland, N.Y. That career-best second round included 15 pars, including seven pars in a row on the back nine. She also posted two birdies in the round.
Her overall score of 155 was the best out of the 58-player field, earning her the lone medal in the competition.
Maddie is also a member of the women’s ice hockey team at Hamilton and was a three-sport varsity athlete on the Island, where she played varsity field hockey, varsity ice hockey, and varsity golf.
