Six Girls Hockey Alums Will Play in NCAA Championships

 

Six alumnae of the girls ice hockey team will play for their college teams in NCAA championship tournaments this week. 

Jess Schryver ’19 of Quinnipiac University and Taylor Guarino ’21 of Northeastern University will play in the Division I tournament, while Madie Leidt ’17, Selia Coady ’21, Elinor Keehn ’21 of Middlebury College and Paige Larose ’21 of Colby College will compete in the Division III tournament.

Guarino and the rest of the Northeastern women’s ice hockey team, ranked third in the tournament, will host the winner of the Wisconsin vs. Clarkson first round matchup. Northeastern earned the third seed in the tournament after winning the Hockey East championship. The game will be played March 12 at 1 p.m. in Matthews Arena. 

Schryver and her Quinnipiac team will travel to host site Ohio State University to take on Syracuse University in the first round of the Division I tournament on Thursday, March 10, at 6 p.m. The seventh-seeded Bobcats earned the first-round bid after a 25-9-3 season and a semifinal loss to Colgate University in the Eastern College Athletic Conference championship tournament. 

In the Division III tournament, top-seeded Middlebury will take on Endicott College in the first round of action on Saturday, March 12, at 3 p.m. at Middlebury. The Panthers had a perfect record of 24 wins and zero losses this season and won the New England Small College Athletic Conference title. It is the 17th appearance in the Division III NCAA tournament for Middlebury, which will be looking to win its fourth national title. 

Larose and the rest of the Colby College women’s ice hockey team make their first-ever NCAA appearance when they take on Plattsburgh State on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Plattsburgh. Colby finished the year with 16 wins and five losses and was the first at-large bid of the tournament.
