Swimming & Diving Finishes Season with Senior Sendoff

The boys and girls swimming and diving teams wrapped up their season on Friday, March 12, and Saturday, March 13, with a new tradition, the Hedges Pool Championship, an intrasquad meet simulating the usual New England two-day championship at the end of every season.

In true Pelican fashion, both the boys and the girls team made the most of their opportunities, as 19 pool or school records were broken, and almost every swimmer and diver in both programs set personal bests.

Before the meet began, girls head coach Bob DeConinck and boys head coach Liz Bucceri ’07 honored the 10 seniors in the program: Annah Clymer, Alexa McQuaid, Sophie Rodner, Sophie Zhuang, Matt Ryckman, Qais Hijazi, Matt Ryckman, Max Therrien, Andy Cao, and Justin Wu.

“Their hard work and upbeat approach to every practice this year made things feel normal, even though they weren’t this year. We can’t thank you enough for all the hard work these 10 have put in over the years here at this pool, and our program is going to miss them dearly next year,” Bob said.

Events of the Hedges Pool Championship were spread over Friday and Saturday. Below is a list of the records that were broken.
