The boys water polo team washed more than 25 vehicles — as well as one baby carriage — this weekend in the hockey rink parking lot in a fundraiser car wash for the victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.
The team raised more than $700, all of which was sent to the AmeriCares organization in Stamford, Connecticut, and will funnel to relief efforts in Texas and in Florida.
Groups of water polo players, led by a mix of veterans and newcomers on the team, took shifts cleaning cars. It was a great way for the boys to increase their camaraderie and have fun. After each vehicle was washed, the boys placed a small Texas flag on the inside of each car as a symbol of the cause they were supporting.
The boys would like to thank all those who stopped by and contributed to their cause as well as those who helped them set up their venue and allow for the event to take place.
