Boys Wrestling Places Fourth at Class A Championships, Seven Qualify for New England's

The boys wrestling team placed fourth at the Class A Wrestling Championships at Phillips Andover Academy on Saturday, February 9, and seven individual wrestlers qualified for the New England championships next weekend.

The team earned a total of 130.5 points, coming up short against Northfield Mount Hermon, Phillips Exeter, and Phillips Andover. Seven Loomis wrestlers placed among the top five in their weight classes, qualifying them for the New England Independent School Wrestling Association championships. They are sophomores Dominic Rossetti, Pedro Arellano, Carter Pavlonnis, and Ian McConnell; and seniors Maalik McPhersson, Kaiser Garcia, and David Choung.

On an especially bright note,Dom Rossetti won his weight class at 138 pounds, defeating wrestlers from Worcester Academy, NMH, and Exeter. In his final match Rossetti won in overtime to take the title. McPherson placed second in the 160-pound class, missing out on the title after falling to an opponent from NMH. The New England championships will take place Friday, February 15, and Saturday, February 16, at Greens Farm Academy.
