Junior Anthony Cipollone recorded three straight goals to help lead the boys varsity ice hockey team to a 4-2 victory over Avon Old Farms on Wednesday, January 23.
The game started out with back-and-forth action, but neither team was able to score until the second period, when junior Cody Hoban scored a goal on an assist from junior Alex Krause. Only a minute later Cipollone scored his first goal of the game, giving the Pelicans a 2-1 lead. Before the end of the period, the Winged Beavers scored a powerplay goal to cut the deficit in half.
Cipollone scored his second goal of the game six minutes into the third period on assists from Krause and junior Kennedy O'Connor, but Avon scored another powerplay goal to make the score 3-2.
With a minute left on the clock, Avon Old Farms pulled its goalie in favor of an extra attacker, but Cipollone completed his natural hat trick when he stole the puck and fired it onto an empty net, securing the win for Loomis.
Up next, the Pelicans travel to Andover for a 4:15 p.m. matchup on Saturday, January 26, and then play Millbrook on Sunday, January 27, at 3:30 p.m.
