The girls varsity basketball team defeated Choate 59-58 in a wild game that went into double-overtime in Olcott Gym on Wednesday, January 16, in front of a large home crowd.
From the tip-off, the game was fast-paced and close with Choate leading by a few points for most of the first half. In the second half, the Pelicans sharpened their offensive precision and put more defensive pressure on the Wild Boars and came from behind to take the lead. In the final seconds of regulation, Choate tied the score to take the game into overtime.
With both teams refusing to lose, the first overtime ended in a tie, forcing a second overtime. Both teams played with intensity and grit, but after pulling ahead with minutes to go, Loomis hung onto its lead and ended the game a single point ahead of Choate. The victory was the Pelicans' for their second straight Founders League win.
