Carried by sophomore goalie Elinor Keehn's 28 saves, the girls varsity hockey team defeated Browne Buckingham & Nichols 2-0 on Wednesday, January 23, for the team's ninth win of the season.
BB&N came out hard and dominated the play in the first half of the first period, but the Pelicans earned a powerplay that helped to change the momentum of the game. During the following shift senior Abby Kuhns put home a rebound after sophomores Paige Larose and Taylor Guarino connected for a shot.
The first goal of the game gave the Pelicans more life, and with just over a minute left in the period, senior Avery Flynn fired a shot that was redirected into the back of the net by junior Chloe Behringer.
BB&N applied plenty of pressure in the following two periods, but Keehn stood tall in the blue paint, denying every opportunity that arose.
The Pelicans have a quick turnaround when they play Friday night, January 25, in their annual Headway Foundation game against the Greenwich Academy Gators at 6 p.m.
