Director of Athletics Sue Cabot announced on Wednesday, February 27, that Jeff Moore will be the new head varsity football coach at Loomis Chaffee.
Jeff will begin working full-time on the Island immediately, and he and his wife, Brittany, will move onto campus this summer.
Jeff comes to Loomis after two years at St. Thomas More School in Oakdale, Connecticut, where he led the Chancellors to a two-season record of 12-6, the best record at the school since 2005. During that time, 30 of Jeff's athletes went on to play collegiate football, including 20 at Division I schools.
"I am incredibly excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the Loomis Chaffee community, and I am looking forward to getting to know and work with each player, as well as the faculty and staff," Jeff said. "This is an amazing school, and I am so lucky to have the opportunity to call it home. This is a very exciting time for Loomis Chaffee football, and I hope to create a culture of hard work and success."
A graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Jeff brings extensive experience in coaching at the college level as well. He has held assistant coaching roles at both Amherst College and Yale University. At Amherst, Jeff helped the team win two straight New England Small College Athletic Conference championships. In his first year with Amherst, the team led the league in scoring and fewest sacks allowed and broke the school record for rushing touchdowns in a season.
"We are thrilled to have Jeff and his wife, Brittany, join us on the Island. Jeff has tremendous experience, and we are looking forward to his leadership and guidance of our football program and to his work with our student athletes," Sue said.
