Steve Colgate joined the Loomis Chaffee community in 2002 after graduating from Trinity College and finishing his Masters Degree at Dartmouth. He began his lacrosse coaching career at Loomis by working with James "Grim" Wilson, a legend in the lacrosse world. Steve coached all three levels in the lacrosse program before rising to varsity assistant permanently in 2010 to join then head coach Ted Garber, another lacrosse coaching legend. With Bill Lee as the current head coach, Steve stands as the only person to work with every head coach in Loomis Chaffee's lacrosse history. Steve currently serves as the varsity team's defensive coordinator.
In addition to coaching lacrosse, Steve coaches varsity football and serves as the Head of the English Department. He lives on campus with his wife Dana, and two children, Sarah and Kai.
