Coaches
-
Liz BucceriHead Coach
Liz Bucceri started working at Loomis Chaffee in 2012 and was an assistant coach for the Girls’ Varsity Swim Team for eight years under longtime head coach, Bob DeConinck. After, she took over the boys' team as head coach for two years, then moved back to the girls' program as an associate head coach for two years in preparation for Bob's retirement in 2024. In college, Liz swam for Hamilton College for four years and captained the team during her senior year. Also during her senior year, she competed in five different relay events at the NCAA DIII National Championship and still holds four school records. Liz is also an alum of Loomis Chaffee, graduating in 2007, where she was a four-year varsity letter winner in three different sports: cross country, swimming, and water polo. As a Loomis swimmer, she contributed to the girls’ New England Championship team in 2007 and served as captain her senior year while garnering school records in the 200-yard freestyle, the 500-yard free, and the 400-meter free. Outside of the pool, Liz is also a math and science teacher and the dorm head of Palmer Dorm, an upperclassmen girls dorm, where she lives with her dog Clara.
-
Ali MurphyHead Coach - Diving
Ali is, first and foremost, the proud Mom of four Pelican graduates (’16, ’18, ’21, and ’23). She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in American politics from The Catholic University of America, where she also dove for the swim team. After college, Ali started her career as an event/wedding planner, which comes in handy during our admission events! In 2012, Ali and her family moved to the Island and in 2014 she joined the Loomis admission team. That same year, the Murphy family moved into the then brand-new Richmond Hall, where Ali served as beloved dorm head for three years, dorm resident for another four and currently is an affiliate doing duty on Wednesday nights. She now lives a quarter of a mile down the road into a faculty house which is walking distance to one of her favorite places on campus — the Savage/Johnson hockey rink. Some of her favorite memories have been in the “Sav,” whether running the game clock, playing broom ball with colleagues, cheering on the boys and girls teams, or screaming with the fans as Larry the Lobster is slid onto the ice during the boys hockey team’s last home game of the season. Ali is the head varsity diving coach at Loomis, as well as girls thirds lacrosse.
-
Aidan WinnAssistant Coach
Aidan Winn joined Loomis Chaffee in 2021 and is the assistant coach of the girls’ swim team, working alongside Liz Bucceri. Previously, he was the boys’ assistant coach under Grant Gritzmacher and has also coached boys’ water polo with Ed Pond. Aidan swam collegiately at Wesleyan University, where he set four school records. After graduating, he worked as an assistant dean of admission at Wesleyan before beginning his University of Pennsylvania Teaching Fellowship at Loomis. At Loomis, Aidan serves as the dorm head of Taylor Hall after previously serving as dorm faculty in Warham Hall. He teaches in the science department and is the assistant director of summer programs.
