Sophie Elgamal '17 finished 26th at the NCAA Division III Championships, earning All-American honors and running a personal-best time of 21:46.9 on the six-kilometer course in Winneconne, Wisconsin.

Elgamal, in her sophomore year, led the University of Chicago women's cross country team to an 11-place finish, the team's best placement at nationals since 2013. The top 40 individual runners out of the nearly 300 competitors are named All-American. Elgamal's time of 21:46.9 averages out to 5:51 per mile and was a 22-second improvement from the race she ran on the same course only a month previously.
