March 22, 2019 Welcome new Pelicans! We are so excited about your acceptance to Loomis and can't wait for you to join us on the Island! As day students at a boarding school, you are about to have a great adventure. At Loomis, you get all the benefits of a diverse and welcoming 24/7 community of students and faculty from around the world all while retaining an everyday connection to your families and local communities. With the exception of sleeping in the dorms (and there are even exceptions to that), we welcome and encourage you to take advantage of all Loomis has to offer both in and out of the classrooms. Whether you're excited about student government, the debate team, athletics, the arts, or any of our other activities, Loomis has something for everyone. And if you can't find an activity that interests you, go ahead and create it! You might be wondering what happens on campus on the weekends and whether you can be a part of it. Absolutely! Get ready for events like the Winterfest semi-formal dance, karaoke nights, movies on the quad, bubble soccer, and a whole host of other things that our students, faculty, and parents organize. I encourage you to take a look at the FAQs in this newsletter specifically created to address questions from day students and their families. I also hope to see you at an upcoming Revisit Day — a great way to preview life as a Loomis student. Go Pelicans!
