Dear Students and Parents,
Although it's snowing here so it doesn't really feel like spring, today was our first faculty day of the spring term. We begin every term with a day or two of professional development to engage the faculty and to take care of school-keeping issues. While we held the meetings as usual, we did so virtually—in a taste of what is to come. This beginning is all very surreal! No one wants to start the spring term this way, everyone is missing the camaraderie and fun that comes with personal interactions, and we have a mix of trepidation and anxiety as we launch ourselves into this brave new virtual world. I am sure that you share these feelings.
So here is a little advice for all of us:
Last Thursday, the deans sent out a notice about picking up your things from the dorms and your lockers. Well, that was before the state of Connecticut asked everyone to stay indoors and away from one another. So, we are asking everyone to hold off on coming to campus for their belongings for now. Once we have a clearer idea of how this might work, we will be back in touch. If you need something desperately—if it is an emergency—be in touch with your dean, and we will get it to you.
Soon you will be hearing from your advisors and teachers—and we will be ready to go come Thursday!
Ne cede malis.
Warmly, Sheila
