Monday Musings from The Kravis Center April 13, 2020 Focus: Ebbs and Flows
Dear Colleagues,
With two weeks of distance learning under our belts (well, perhaps this is not the correct expression since belts are worn with pants, and the yoga pants I've been wearing for the past three week don't require a belt), this is an ideal time to congratulate yourself in any way that you deem appropriate on rising to this challenge with only a few days of training. This was not something that we prepared for, and we are all doing our best. As a colleague at Culver Academics stated: "We need to maintain a sense of adventure tempered by a focus on wellbeing and moderation."
At the end of last week, I asked my students for feedback in this survey and am looking forward to seeing where I can improve and better meet their needs. One Schoolhouse has compiled a list of reflection questions that you may want to ask your students.
Have a good week, and I hope to see you during the Kravis Center sessions on either Tuesday or Thursday at 2:00 in Sara's Zoom Room (https://zoom.us/j/4512570408)
Sara, on behalf of the Kravis Center so Online professional growth opportunities Stay tuned for more internal options coming soon!
Given the reality that many in-person conferences and other professional development opportunities will likely be canceled this summer, the Kravis Center wants to draw your attention to the online offerings from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Neuroteach Global (If you are interested in learning more about the Neuroteach program run through the Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning or CTTL, Sara Markman, Martha Ince, Erica Gerace, Candice Chirgotis have all completed various portions of the program), and Athena (ask Eric LaForest and Laura Rochette about their experience). We'd love to support groups of three or more interested in participating in Neuroteach Global or Athena; please click here to let us know that you're interested. _______________________________________________________________ Resources and articles:
