Loomis' boys cross country team won their fourth consecutive, and twelfth overall, Founders League Championship on Saturday, November 4.

For the second year in a row, sophomore Matt Farrell led the way as the overall champion, and the Pelican flock, as a whole, tallied the race-winning low 45 points to secure them yet another Founders League title.

The start of the race found a cluster of the Founders League's finest and fastest stride for stride with one another, but as the race went on, Farrell and senior captain Ryan Heskin pushed to the front, battling hard to maintain their position among pursuing runners. In the final meters, with the two Pelicans still at the front, Heskin finished third overall, just a stride behind the second-place finisher. Only six seconds divided the top three runners, as the race for first place was a stride for stride sprint all the way to the finish line, with fans cheering wildly for a thrilling finish.

Junior Mark Valadez and freshman Alejandro Rincon finished the race in eleventh and twelfth place respectively, and senior Ramesh Shrestha was the last Pelican to score, finishing eighteenth overall. The Pelicans closed out the race with senior Jacob Shichman and senior captain Rick Jatti, who finished in the top half of the varsity race with the rest of their teammates.

The team would like to thank all the parents, grandparents, siblings, alums, and assorted others for their super-fan and significant sideline support and for their many other contributions (cheers, food, drink, and more) to the success of the Pelican harriers.

The team looks forward to the New England Prep School Track Association championship on Saturday, November 11, at Choate, where the Pelican squad will look to carry their momentum and run another fantastic race.
