COVID-19 Protocols

Loomis Chaffee School

Outlined below are protocols Loomis Chaffee has put in place for the  2021–22 school year to minimize the risk of COVID-19 infections in our community. These protocols apply to all students, faculty, staff, parents, and visitors to Loomis unless otherwise noted. While we hope to provide students with a living and learning experience more reflective of a pre-pandemic year, we are monitoring the continued spread of COVID-19 and the related recommendations from federal and state agencies.

The Omicron variant is particularly contagious. While it also appears to be somewhat milder, it still poses a significant risk to some individuals. Consequently, we have enhanced some of our COVID-prevention protocols until conditions improve.

Thank you for your attention to and compliance with these protocols. We hope we will be able to ease some of these restrictions as the pandemic wanes.

What do I do if I'm the close contact of someone who tests positive?

Exposure (close contact) is defined as a contact within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more, accrued over 24 hours (1 day), regardless of facial coverings. If the school determines you are a very close contact, such as a roommate, follow the process for not fully vaccinated individuals.

COVID Booster Clinic for Students

The booster eliminates the need for close contacts who are asymptomatic to quarantine. For that reason and for the general health of the community, we strongly recommend that your child be boosted.

  • If your child has received the booster, please email a copy of their updated vaccination card to the Health Center at health_center@loomis.org.
  • In late January, Loomis Chaffee will host two booster clinics for students.
    • All students have been emailed a link to sign up for a clinic.
    • Parents who would like their child to participate in an on-campus clinic must complete and submit a consent form. The consent form is available in the Magnus Health portal and it must be uploaded to Magnus once signed.

Questions about the clinics may be directed to the Health Center at health_center@loomis.org
