Writer’s Workshops
Online Academy
Hone your writing skills online this summer.
Writing is integral and invaluable to your education, and like any skill, it requires hours of practice, knowledge of the fundamental techniques and rules, good instruction, and then more practice.
Our 2-week online Writer’s Workshops are designed to give students the chance to gain, practice, and refine step-by-step processes for how to build effective writing skills for college and beyond. Guided by Loomis Chaffee’s Kravis Center for Excellence in Teaching, these courses apply modern teaching methods in order to ensure that students understand, master, and retain these skills. Peer-to-peer activities, group collaborations, and one-on-one conferences with teachers provide a setting to improve one’s writing.

Get your “stories” out there! In this dynamic writing workshop, students will experience the benefits of creative expression through crafting and revising their own short stories and poems. All writers will be full participants in the “workshop” process; not only will they learn various exercises to help them free the writing muse, but they will also engage in the process of sharing and editing each other’s work in a positive environment. Discussions will be devoted to analysis of student work and that of professional writers. Students should expect to come away with a greater knowledge of the craft of writing, enhanced approaches to revising their work, and a far better understanding of their own unique writing style.
