The Loomis Chaffee Center for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion promotes and fosters an inclusive school community through the celebration of the diversity of its members; a sustained examination of privilege and biases; and the evolution of institutional policies, structures, and practices. Zennon Briggs ’22 started dancing with the Zolotyj Promin Ukrainian Dance Ensemble of Hartford when he was 8 years old. This year Zennon and the dance ensemble will be part of Loomis Chaffee’s 15th annual Cultural Outburst celebration, an evening of ethnic food, performances, and a fashion show on April 6.
llegal, A New Musical, with its vibrant and powerful combination of spoken word, rap, and singing, was presented at the Norris Ely Orchard Theater on Friday, March 22.
Douglass Day is celebrated on February 14, his chosen birthday, and helped lead to the establishment of Black History Month. Recently Douglass Day has given volunteers from numerous locations around the world the chance to come together to transcribe and learn about a specific online collection of Black history and culture. This year that focus was a transcribe-a-thon from noon to 3 p.m. EST of papers left by Frederick Douglass that have been digitized and made available through the Library of Congress.
