The Loomis Chaffee Center for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

The Loomis Chaffee Center for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion promotes and fosters an inclusive school community through the celebration of the diversity of its members; a sustained examination of privilege and biases; and the evolution of institutional policies, structures, and practices. This necessary work is guided by respect for the dignity and contribution of each member of the school community and a commitment to the best self in service of the common good.

Douglass Day celebration at LC

Douglass Day is celebrated on February 14, his chosen birthday, and helped lead to the establishment of Black History Month. Recently Douglass Day has given volunteers from numerous locations around the world the chance to come together to transcribe and learn about a specific online collection of Black history and culture. This year that focus was a transcribe-a-thon from noon to 3 p.m. EST of papers left by Frederick Douglass that have been digitized and made available through the Library of Congress.
