Dear Fellow Parents,

We are honored to serve as the Parent Giving Chairs for the 2021-22 Loomis Chaffee Annual Fund! As the proud parents of two current students, Oliver ’23 and Simon ’24, and also an alumnus myself (Martin '90), it is especially meaningful for us to serve the school.

We are thrilled that both our sons decided to follow in their father's footsteps with their decision to attend Loomis Chaffee, as it is a wonderful fit for each of them in different ways. While they each toured a variety of boarding schools in the Northeast and day schools in New York City, Oliver's decision was cemented the day of his on-campus tour. He was struck by how the students interacted while walking around campus in between classes and their "vibe" - the students truly seemed happy and enjoyed being there. Simon spent quite a lot of time on the Island during Oliver's first year and was also drawn to the strong sense of community, the incredible variety of course offerings and sports from which to choose. Oliver and Simon have grown tremendously during their time at Loomis with the support of their teachers and the friendships they have cultivated.

Our relationship with Loomis Chaffee now spans over 30 years and while the programs, activities, and facilities may look different, the first-class education that promotes the common good and encourages students to be their best selves remains the same. Everything that Loomis Chaffee offers our children is strengthened by a robust Annual Fund. Tuition covers approximately 70% of the true cost of a Loomis Chaffee education and among other things, gifts to the Annual Fund from parents, alumni, and friends of the school help make up the difference.

We are very fortunate to be working with a group of over 65 volunteer families who have generously agreed to serve the school and help us reach this year’s goal of 80% current parent participation. If you’re reading this as a Parent Volunteer – thank you! If you’re interested in joining the team, please be in touch with Fred J. Kuo, senior associate director of the Annual Fund. And for all parents, we hope that you will join us with a contribution to this year’s Annual Fund. Together we can help ensure that Loomis Chaffee provides the same transformative education it always has and one that is flexible and can quickly adapt to the challenges of today’s world.

With gratitude,
