“Seeing people have faith in you and wanting you to be your best self inspires you to do it.”
Will Cleary
Will Cleary is a triple threat: outstanding student, accomplished athlete, community leader. His talent and work ethic form the foundation of his success, but he is quick to credit his teachers, coaches, and peers for their mentorship and support and for challenging him to elevate his game in all arenas.
One of the biggest academic challenges Will faced was strengthening his writing. “It still takes me a bit of time to polish papers,” he admits, “but I’ve gotten faster and more confident in my work.” Loomis' emphasis on writing across the curriculum and teachers who were willing to meet with Will to go over his work were key to his improvement.
Will found similar support in the college recruitment process. His soccer coach contacted the college programs Will was interested in exploring and was always willing to lend a hand. Once Will narrowed his choices, his college advisor stepped in to help him manage the application process.
As a campus leader, Will offered similar support to his peers. He reached out to younger athletes to welcome them to the soccer program and to establish himself as someone they could turn to for help. He also mentored several freshmen through the peer mentoring program. Will embodies the spirit of the Loomis Chaffee community — a community that challenges you to be your best self while also providing the support you need to succeed.

Loomis Chaffee helps students identify, apply to, and secure admission to colleges and universities that will meet their current needs and future goals. The foundation of our College Guidance program is the relationship students have with their college advisor with whom they begin working in their sophomore year.

Decade after decade, Loomis graduates find that their writing skills far exceed those of many of their peers, no matter what major and career they pursue. Our Writing Initiatives program includes the required year-long Writing Workshop, inspiration and support from our Writing Studio staff, and myriad opportunities to expand your writing skills in and out of the classroom.
