The boys cross country team captured its sixth consecutive Founders League title on Saturday, November 2, at Avon Old Farms, led by senior Matt Farrell, who won the league crown for the fourth straight time.
The day brought not only ideal conditions for racing (sunny, 50’s, dry, and clear), but also an incredible performance from all the Pelican harriers, as four Loomis runners placed in the top 10, two placed in the top 20, and the seventh racer finished in the top 40, tallying a total just 32 points, 43 points ahead of second place Hotchkiss.
Farrell cruised to victory, capping off a dominating career in Founders League cross country. Junior captain Alejandro Rincon captured a strong second place, more than 20 seconds ahead of the third-place finisher, and junior captain Jake Lotreck finished fourth, just six seconds behind third.
Freshman Sam Kurian was the fourth of the Pelicans to earn All-League (top 15) honors, with his ninth-place finish, and sophomore Nick Hope crossed the finish line a dozen seconds later to complete the Loomis scoring.
The team would like to thank Avon Old Farms for hosting a terrific league meet and all the fans who came out to cheer on the team.
The boys now prepare for their last meet of the season, the New England Prep School Track Association Championships at Northfield Mount Hermon on Saturday, November 9, at 2 p.m.
