Baker Breaks 1,000 Point Mark

Carys Baker, a senior on the girls varsity basketball team, recorded her 1,000th career point in a game against Noble and Greenough School at the Nickerson Holiday Showcase in December.

The team officially celebrated the accomplishment on January 11 at the Pelicans' first home game of the new year so that friends and family members could be in attendance.

Head coach Adrian Stewart had this to say about the accomplishment, "We would like to congratulate Carys on scoring 1,000 career points! This incredible achievement is a testament to her skill and perseverance as an athlete. Her dedication to the sport is truly inspiring. She has been an outstanding leader in our program and the best teammate any athlete could ask for. She has been and absolute joy to coach."

Baker accomplished this feat in just 65 games after missing a season to injury and another season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She has averaged 15.5 points per game in her Loomis Chaffee career and is averaging 23.4 points per games this season.

Baker was named to the 2022–23 Naismith Girls High School Player of the Year Trophy Preseason Watchlist, one of the highest honors a high school basketball player can receive. She has also been nominated to take part in the 2023 MacDonalds All-American Game.

Baker and the rest of the girls basketball team this season look to defend their Class A New England Championship, in which Baker was named the tournament MVP.
