The varsity boys golf team turned in a strong performance on Wednesday, May 6, at the Western New England Prep Golf Invitational, finishing fifth out of 18 teams at The Club at River Oaks in Sherman, Conn.  

Competing in a challenging “bring 5, count 5” format, where every score counted toward the team total, the Pelicans finished just seven shots behind the tournament winner. 

Senior Michael Liu led the way with a 1-over-par 73, while fellow senior Max Singer carded a 2-over 74. Co-captain Nicky Flynn added a 4-over 76 as all three played well on a difficult course they had never seen before. 

One of the biggest moments of the tournament came from senior Brandon Dalessio, who made a hole-in-one on the eighth hole. 

Loomis returns to action on Friday, May 8, at the Bader Tournament at Keney Park Golf Course in Windsor. The event is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
