Boys Hockey Earns 3-0 Win Against Kent

The Loomis Chaffee boys varsity hockey team secured a solid 3-0 victory over Kent on Saturday night, January 11, in front of a full crowd at Savage/Johnson Rink.

The win came just weeks after a close 2-3 loss to Kent during the Avon Christmas Classic tournament on December 20.

In Saturday’s game, junior Will Watson gave the Pelicans a 1-0 lead late in the first period, scoring with assists from senior Gennaro Pompano and junior Joey Catanzariti. Loomis extended the lead in the second period shortly after killing off a 5-on-3 penalty. Senior Luke Collins buried a shot in the top corner, set up by sophomore Joey Burke, to make it 2-0.

Pompano added an insurance goal in the third period, firing a one-timer from a pass by sophomore Logan Ferrara, with Catanzariti earning his second assist of the night, securing the 3-0 result. Senior goaltender Luke Quinn made 19 saves to earn his second shutout of the season, contributing to a strong defensive effort from the entire team.

The Pelicans will take on Deerfield on Wednesday, January 15, at 4:30 p.m. as they aim to continue their momentum.
