Boys Soccer is 8-1

Putting another mark in the win column, the boys varsity soccer team, now 8-1 in the regular-season, shut out Salisbury on Helfrich Field on Wednesday, October 9.

In the Pelicans’ latest match, they defeated Salisbury 8-0. The team’s scoring began in the 13th minute when sophomore Jaden Behm found junior Josiah Blake between two defenders; Blake then calmly slipped the ball under the approaching Salisbury keeper. After, Behm set up two more teammates for quick finishes in the six-yard box: sophomore James Drago in the 14th minute and junior Makai Badeau in the 22nd.

Junior Jude Gussen added a powerful goal from distance, sending a shot to the lower left-hand corner. Later, sophomore Cathal Mitchel, scoring his first goal of the season, launched a remarkable strike from 30 yards out that knuckled into the top right corner. Senior Andrew Addo secured his first varsity goal in the 86th minute, using his left foot to curl a shot from the top of the box while holding off a defender. Juniors Josai Vereen and Cyrus de Voldere rounded out the scoring in the second half.

The team now looks ahead to their next challenge on the road against Williston on Monday, October 14.
