Equestrian Earns Reserve Champion at First IEA Show

The equestrian team had a phenomenal start to the regular season, winning reserve champion overall on Sunday, October 5, at Folly Farm’s Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) show, where the Loomis Chaffee team bested Ethel Walker and three other teams.

Senior Emi Cisneros, senior Cathy Zhang, and freshman Megan Xu helped Loomis begin the day on a great note, with three firsts from Megan and Emi in the open (2’6”) jumping and flat classes. Juniors Amaya Schadrack, Delphine Streeter, and Kiki Ribeiro held Loomis’ place with strong performances in the intermediate (2’) jumping and flat classes. In the afternoon, sophomore Liz Mazlish won the novice (cross rails) flat while freshmen Maddie Fisher and Anya Kapoor landed solid placings in jumping and flat, including second and fourth. Finally, the team’s flat riders, sophomore Jolie Chung, freshman Kennedy West, and senior Aiyana Gladsden, ended the competition with impressive performances across the board out of a very competitive field, helping Loomis finish strong.
