Girls Basketball Wins Founders Title, Earns Top Seed in NEPSAC Tournament

The girls varsity basketball team defeated Miss Porter’s School 80-49 on Saturday, February 25, to claim the outright Founders League title for the seventh time in the last 10 years. The victory helped the Pelicans secure No. 1 seed for the New England Prep School Athletic Conference Class A Tournament.

Senior Carys Baker dominated in the game, posting 22 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and a steal in just 18 minutes of play. Junior Ke’iara Odume also had a big day, recording 14 points and six boards in just 11 minutes on the court.

In the end, all 12 members of the team got in the game, with 11 players recording points.

The victory was the Pelicans’ 17th win of the season. As the top seed in the upcoming NEPSAC Class A Tournament, Loomis Chaffee will host Taft School in a quarterfinal game in the Olcott Center on Wednesday, March 1, at 3 p.m. The game will be livestreamed for those who can’t attend. Complete tournament information can be found on the NEPSAC Tournament webpage.

Loomis and Taft faced off earlier in the season with the Pelicans getting the better of the Rhinos to win 63-42.
