Senior Kayla Zeng won the 200 free and the 500 free to help lead the Pelican girls team to a fourth-place finish in the New England Prep School Swimming and Diving Division I championships on Sunday, March 3, at Phillips Andover.
Zeng won the 200 free in 1:51.35 and the 500 free in 4:56.99. Her finish time in the 500 free qualified her for All-America consideration.
“She has had an outstanding senior year,” head coach Bob DeConinck said. “She is a dedicated and determined athlete and trains extremely hard to accomplish her goals.”
Loomis topped off a successful season by finishing fourth in the 12-team field with 262 total points.
“I knew at the beginning of the season that we had the athletes to have a great year,” Bob said. “We had a good mix of veterans and talented newcomers. We were very versatile in how we could construct a meet lineup. We just needed to train hard, stay healthy and positive, and enjoy the experience. We did, largely due to our senior leadership.”
The Pelicans finished with a 7-2 dual meet record and a third consecutive Founders League title.
