Girls Hockey Claims Second Consecutive PKO Title

The Loomis Chaffee girls varsity hockey team won the Patsy K. Odden Tournament (PKO) for the second consecutive year.

Held annually at Taft at the start of Winter Break, this year’s tournament took place December 19–20. Loomis opened the tournament with a 3-1 win against Kent, followed by a 4-1 win over Taft and a 4-2 win against Choate. In the championship game, the Pelicans tied Andover 3-3 in regulation and secured the title in a shootout.

“The PKO finals versus Andover was each team’s fourth game in 30 hours for the tournament,” head coach Liz Leyden said. “Despite this, the game was the fastest and highest-level game we played, and I’m very proud of the focus, effort, and commitment to the team that each girl displayed. The level of joy and support for one another on the bench helped the team perform at a high level, and I’m proud of our success in the tournament and so excited for what January has in store.”

The Pelicans return to action on Friday, January 10, with a game at Milton Academy.
