The girls varsity lacrosse team earned a 13–11 victory over Taft on Wednesday, April 16, marking the team’s first win against the Rhinos since 2021 and extending its undefeated season record to 7–0.
The Pelicans came out strong, building a 5–1 lead by the end of the first quarter. Taft answered with four straight goals to tie the game at 5–5 and then briefly pulled ahead, setting up a tense battle. But Loomis regained momentum late and held on for the hard-fought win.
The offensive effort was led by sophomore Julianna Bang, who netted four goals, and seniors Gretchen Kawecki and Jaime Patton-Martin, who scored three apiece. Lexi Barry, Syd Denson, and Cata Tarantino each added a goal.
Junior goalkeeper Jordyn Hill-Bucktooth anchored the defense with composure and timely saves, helping to stifle the Rhinos’ attack. In the midfield, Patton-Martin led with grit and poise while Barry and Bang played key roles on the draw circle. Defensively, senior Katie Sigrist, junior Addy Yanni, and sophomores Anna Sigrist and Molly Wiggenhauser helped keep Taft at bay.
The Pelicans aim to build on their recent success when they travel to face the defending Founders League champions, Hotchkiss, on Saturday, April 19, at 3:30 p.m.
