The girls swimming and diving team captured the Founders League title on Saturday, February 25, with an impressive showing that included three school records and three Founders League records. It was the team’s second consecutive Founders League title.

The diving competition took place earlier in the week, and the team’s divers kicked things off for the Pelicans with several important performances. Senior Campbell Brode led the squad with a sixth-place finish, followed by junior Bella Flowers in eighth place, junior Vanessa Kim in 13th place, and sophomore Catherine Lam in 16th place.

The swimmers traveled to Hotchkiss on Saturday, and they outscored runner up Choate and third-place Hotchkiss to claim the title.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of juniors Kayla Zeng, Charlotte Sorensen, and Julia Grant and sophomore Jessica Zhao finished second and a set new school record with a time of 1:49.74, breaking a record set in 2006.

Later in the meet, Zeng established two more school records, in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.57 and in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.83.  Both swims established new Founders League records as well. 

Also breaking a Founders League record was the Pelicans’ winning 400-yard free relay squad of Zeng, sophomore Amy He, Sorensen, and Zhao with a speedy time of 3:36.32. Sophomore Delaney Pece also was crowned Founders League champ with her performance in the 500-yard free.
