Loomis Defeats Taft in Four-Set Battle

Loomis Chaffee volleyball hosted Founders League rival Taft in a tightly contested and well-played match on Wednesday, October 8.

The Pelicans started strong, limiting their early mistakes and setting the tone for the afternoon. Junior Stella Foote delivered a six-point service run to give Loomis a 10-5 advantage, and from there the team maintained control, taking the opening set 25-13.

In the second set, Loomis had trouble serving and returning serves, allowing Taft to pull ahead 18–11. The Pelicans clawed their way back to tie the set at 23, but Taft’s resilient defense held firm as the visitors edged out a 25-23 win.

Sets three and four showcased high-level play from both sides. Loomis maintained slim leads throughout each frame, with extended rallies and impressive defensive efforts defining the action. In the end, the Pelicans’ consistency proved decisive as they secured the final two sets, 25-22 and 25-20, to earn the 3-1 victory.

The Pelicans hit the road for their next matchup, traveling to Hotchkiss School on Thursday, October 10, with first serve set for 6 p.m.
