Two Alumnae Take Part in University Games

Two Loomis Chaffee girls ice hockey alumnae, Maddie Giordano ’17 and Madie Leidt ’17, recently competed in the International University Sports Federation (FISU) winter games, representing the United States in the event.

Staged every two years in a different city, the World University Games is much like the Olympics, with a summer and winter edition. Students currently enrolled in colleges or universities, along with students who have graduated within a year of the event, are allowed to participate in the games.

Leidt was named captain of the U.S. women’s hockey team in games against the Czech Republic and Slovakia and finished the tournament with four goals, eight assists, and 22 shots on goal. Giordano played on Madie’s line in four of the five games and finished the tournament with five shots on goal. Leidt played college hockey at Middlebury College, and Giordano played at the University of Maine.

Check out the FISU Games website for more tournament information, scores, stats, and player bios from the tournament.
