“I made a lot of good memories with my friends [in Richmond Hall] freshman year, and every time I go in there, it reminds me of my start at Loomis and meeting a bunch of people that are now my best friends.”
We recently caught up with sophomore Catherine Forte, who will never forget the role Richmond Hall played in her freshman year — or her favorite meal, courtesy of her mother.
Year: Sophomore
Hometown: Canton, Conn.
Activities: III soccer, JV basketball, tour guide, dance outside of school
Favorite place on campus and why? Last year she was a Richmond Hall affiliate as a day student, and that dorm remains special to her. “I made a lot of good memories with my friends there freshman year, and every time I go in there, it reminds me of my start at Loomis and meeting a bunch of people that are now my best friends.”
Favorite snack: “Honey Nut Cheerios.” Milk? “No milk, just plain.”
Favorite meal at home: Not just any tacos. Barbeque pulled-pork tacos made by her mother.
If you could invite anyone to dinner, past or present, who would it be and why? “My great grandfather. My dad always talks about him, and he was one of [my father’s] biggest inspirations. So I’d really like to see what he was like.”
If you could have any animal for a pet, what would it be? “A baby monkey. I think they’re cute.” Right now, she’ll have to settle for the family dog.
If you were trapped on a desert island and could have only three things, what would they be? “My best friend, Mady; water; and food.”
How has Loomis shaped you as a person? “It has taught me a lot of lessons of being a better person. I feel like I've gotten to know so many people from different backgrounds, which has taught me to understand the person better and further want to get to know people when I meet them.”
What is the best thing about Loomis? “All the great people here ... the community.”
On taking introduction to glass art and sculpture this year: “I chose those because they are very new types of art to me, and I wanted to be able to try these new things that I typically do not get to do.”
What is on your bucket list? Traveling with family overseas, taking in some sights and museums. “And a Drake concert. I really like his music.”
What do you enjoy about the sports team that you play on? “The sense of community on the team. ... I get to know a lot of different people that I normally might not.”
