Jeno Kim

“I know I'll never regret coming to Loomis. The kids are amazing here, and all the teachers are always supportive.”

We recently caught up with sophomore Jeno Kim. His sister, Jeri, is a 2019 graduate of Loomis Chaffee. Jeno also has an older brother and another older sister. He says they all are close to each other: “We trust each other so much, and we care about each other so much.” Jeno says he heard good things about Loomis Chaffee from Jeri and thought the school would be a “perfect fit for me. ... I know I'll never regret coming to Loomis. The kids are amazing here, and all the teachers are always supportive.”

Year: Sophomore

Hometown: Seoul, South Korea

Activities: Was a class officer and in the orchestra as a freshman; will play lacrosse in the spring. Says he wants to try a variety of activities while at Loomis.

Pratt Field — commonly known as the turf field.

Favorite place on campus: The turf field. “It’s an all-year-round place for me to hang out.” Whether it is playing sports or spike ball or simply looking at the sky and stars, he says he enjoys it all. That and “all my friends like to hang out there.”

Favorite meal from home: His mother’s bibimbap, a Korean dish of rice, vegetables, meat or seafood, and egg. “She would cook it almost every week, and it is still my favorite dish.”

Favorite snack: Nutter Butter cookies, which have peanut butter in the middle. “Whenever we’d visit the United States when I was younger, me and my dad would go get Nutter Butters. We both love peanut butter as a snack.”

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be? NBA player Stephen Curry, his favorite basketball player. The conversation would center on how Curry became who he is now, one of the all-time greats in the history of the sport.

If you could change something in the world, what would it be? “That there would be a better option than cars. Back home I always ride the subways rather than drive. I know how much pollution driving causes because of the emissions. And my dad has always taught me to save energy, so I’d also say saving as much energy as possible.”

What do you enjoy about Seoul? Jeno says Seoul is a very clean city with great public transportation. Last summer a friend from Loomis visited, and “he said he loved it. Seoul is such a beautiful city that I hope everyone gets to visit at some point.”
