Blood Donation Drive Exceeds Goal

Loomis Chaffee community members donated 35 pints of blood to the Red Cross on Thursday, May 16, in an on-campus blood drive organized by the Pelican Service Organization (PSO), the HOSA-Future Health Professionals Club, the Norton Family Center for the Common Good, and the Health Center.

The donations from students, faculty, staff, and administrators exceeded organizers’ goal of contributing 30 pints. Each pint of donated blood can save up to three lives.

Special shout-outs go to senior Jessica Luo, who helped bring back this tradition at Loomis; juniors Molly Bernardi and Madeline Van Norman, who did a lot of the organizing, recruiting, event planning, and setting up; and Mary Adler, the school’s medical director, who provided valuable guidance.

Thank you to the 48 people who signed up to donate and to the PSO, HOSA, Physical Plant, Athletics Department, and Communications Office for helping to make the blood drive a success.

“We Pelicans certainly lived up to our reputation to give of ourselves for others,” said Director of Community Engagement Heather Henderson, who oversaw the effort.
