"Heroism is latent in every human soul. However humble or unknown, they (the veterans) have renounced what are accounted pleasures and cheerfully undertaken all self-denials; privations, toils, dangers, sufferings, sicknesses, mutilations, life-long hurts and losses, death itself — for some great good, dimly seen but dearly held."
— Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, Maine college professor who became a highly decorated Union Army officer and won the Medal of Honor for his gallentry at the battle of Gettysburg.
This week's array of Pelican student athletes who have gone above and beyond is perhaps best exemplified in the comments of JV girls basketball coach Scott Purdy, who highlights the selflessness of our boys III basketball team. Thank you to all our Pelicans of the Week for your leadership and play.
