Varsity Swimming/Diving - Girls vs. Hotchkiss School
Event Type: Regular
Date: January 28, 2012
Event Recap:
The Loomis Chaffee Pelicans traveled to Lakeville, CT on a beautiful spring-like day to face the Bearcats of Hotchkiss in their wonderful facility.  The Pelicans rose to the occasion, winning 10 of 12 events in a 120-62 victory.  Leading the way were seniors Samantha Pierce and Sela Wang, winning both of their events in season best swims.  Sam led the way in the 200 IM and the 500 Free, while Sela swam to victory in the 100 and 200 Free events.  Also hitting the touchpads first was the always impressive Krystal Sung ’15 in the 100 butterfly, and Felicia Woron ’13, strong in a first-time swim in the 100 Breaststroke.  Leading the way on the diving boards was Natalie Brown ’12.  Overall, there were many strong swims, including impressive wins in all 3 relays.  Other notable swims were Krystal Sung ’15 (200 free), Liz Titterton ’12 (200 IM), Jenny Li ’13 (100 free), Megan Farrell ’12 (500 free), and Penelope Shao ’15 (500 free).  Adding to the excitement of the day was a very thrilling final relay finish for the Loomis boys team, which beat Hotchkiss for the first time in many years.  Following the meet, the team had a great dinner at Chipotle’s and returned to campus in time for the Student Council sponsored Games Night, an annual event!  Next up before the team heads home for a much needed long weekend will be the Hoggers of NMH on Wednesday, Feb. 1.  Come on by and cheer on the team!

After not competing for 10 days because of weather-related cancellations, the Pelican girls swimming and diving team came off the blocks well on Saturday, cruising to a 94-76 victory over the Bearcats of Hotchkiss.

The boys and girls swimming and diving teams hosted the Bobcats from Williston on Wednesday, finishing the day with the boys earning a 89-72 victory and the girls garnering a 96-85 win.

Loomis sophomore Madison Perry broke one of the school's oldest swimming and diving records Wednesday at Kent then shattered the new record Saturday at Andover. Amassing 304.65 points on Saturday, just days after her record-breaking 274.75-point performance, Madison's score eclipsed Irene Corsak's '78 36-year-old school record of 256.30 points.

There's nothing like the unexpected to bolster the resilience of a team as the boys and girls swim teams demonstrated this week.
