The Loomis Chaffee wrestling team finished a strong 2012-2013 season with an 18-3 dual meet record and a 7th-place finish at the New England Prep Tournament. Having graduated only two seniors from the starting line-up, and retaining all five of its New England place-winners, Loomis Wrestling returns to the mats this winter with high expectations and great momentum.
Loomis Wrestling prides itself on being a “complete” program: committed both to attracting talented student-athletes from outside the community and to developing successful wrestlers within the program. Over the past few years, the team has continued to grow in size, and some of the program’s brightest success stories have come from athletes who began to wrestle only when they arrived on the Island—including two of last year’s New England qualifiers and one place-winner.
At all levels, we emphasize the fundamentals: teamwork, discipline, and intensity. This means a commitment to attacking wrestling, a strong culture of respect, and a lot of hard work. During the season, we maintain a challenging schedule, hosting the LC Duals in December and traveling to tournaments at Canterbury and Springfield before the New Year. In January, we match up against the best teams in New England, and we finish the season in February at the National Prep Tournament in Pennsylvania.
While we encourage our wrestlers to compete at a high level year-round, we also recognize the value of participation in other activities on campus, and our wrestlers are stand-outs in football, soccer, and theater, among other things. Above all, we’re dedicated to producing quality student-athletes, and our wrestlers have gone on to some of the best colleges in the country.
We’re also lucky to have a fantastic support staff, and some of the best facilities in New England.
