Honorary Residency Guidelines
During a designated period in the fall term, day students may apply to be honorary residents of one dorm to have visitation privileges similar to residents of that dorm. The Student Life Office will oversee this process and grant these permissions. As honorary residents, day students will be expected to follow the guidelines and expectations set forth by the dorm head. This privilege can be revoked at any time.
- Day students will adhere to the same policy as boarding students for visitation of all other dorms.
- After honorary residency privileges are granted during the fall term, approved day students must attend a mandatory meeting to go over more specific dorm rules and expectations.
- Honorary Residents will be added to a Veracross Mailing List of their respective dorms to receive communications.
- Honorary Residents may enter the common room of their affiliated dorm without a host.
- Honorary Residents may enter another student’s room outside of visitation hours without needing to check in or keep the door propped open. Other Visitation Rules remain applicable; students must be invited in by the host, and the host must remain present in the room.
- Honorary Residents are not permitted to be in the dorm during study hall on weekdays and after late check-in on weekends.
- Honorary Residents are permitted to use dorm showers.
- Honorary Residents are invited to participate in dorm events in the evenings and on weekends within the allowed hours.
- If a day student is interested in sleeping over in a dorm during the weekend, they must acquire and fill out a form from the Deans Office by Friday at 4 p.m.
